Chichu Art Museum

Chichu art museum was founded in 2004 as “a place to think about nature and humans”. Most of the buildings are buried in the basement so as not to damage the beautiful landscape of Setouchi, and the works of Claude Monet, James Turrell and Walter de Maria are permanently installed in Ando Tadao Design Building.

Natural light descends despite being underground, and the expressions of works and space change every moment throughout the day and throughout the four seasons. This art museum, where artists and architects created each other with their ideas in mind, is a huge site-specific work for the entire building.
